Specific Notes for Business 1

Here are the requirements you need to consider when enrolling for Business 1 (first year).

This is a summary. For all the details please see the undergraduate calendar.

Number of Units

Enrol for 30 units of course work. You’ll be taking a combination of required courses and elective courses from other faculties.

Required Courses

Students in Business 1 (beginning September 2016) must complete the following required courses.

Commerce 1AA3Financial Accounting I
Commerce 1BA3Organizational Behaviour
Commerce 1E03Business Environment and Organization
Economics 1B03Introduction to Microeconomics
Economics 1BB3Introduction to Macroeconomics
Math 1M03Calculus for Business, Humanities and the Social Sciences
You can substitute Math 1A03 or Math 1LS3 for this course, but Math 1M03 is recommended.
Math 1F03Introduction to Calculus and Analytic Geometry
Only required if you did not complete grade 12 Calculus and Vectors U (MCV4U) or the equivalent.
Statistics 1L03Probability and Linear Algebra
Only required if you did not complete grade 12 Mathematics of Data Management U (MDM4U) or the equivalent.

Electives

You are also required to take 9 – 12 units of electives to bring your total number of units to 30.

Electives are courses taken outside your major. That is, they are non-commerce courses. You get to choose what you’d like to take.
