Apply After College

If you have completed a two or three-year diploma at an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology, you can apply based on your college standing.

You must apply via the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) Undergraduate Application.

  • Application deadline for Fall 2024 admission: April 1, 2024.
  • Supplementary application: February 1, 2024.

Requirements

The Commerce program only admits a limited number of students each year. To be considered, you must meet the following criteria.

If you have completed a 2-year Diploma Program

  • Cumulative GPA of at least 80% (A-).
  • Completion of Grade 12 Advanced Functions (MFH4U) and Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U).
  • First priority will be given to students who have not failed, repeated, and/or upgraded any university course(s).

If successful, you will be admitted to Business I (first year). You may be eligible for up to 12 units of transfer credit (maximum).

If you have completed a 3-year Diploma Program

  • Cumulative GPA of at least 80% (A-).
  • Completion of Grade 12 Advanced Functions (MFH4U) and Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U).
  • Completion of at least six (6) of the seven (7) courses below (or equivalents):
    • Commerce 1AA3 – Financial Accounting
    • Commerce 1BA3 – Organizational Behaviour
    • Commerce 1DA3 – Business Data Analytics
    • Commerce 1MA3 – Introduction to Marketing
    • Economics 1B03 (Introductory Microeconomics)
    • Economics 1BB3 (Introductory Macroeconomics)
    • Mathematics 1MM3 (Applied Calculus)
  • First priority will be given to students who have not failed, repeated, and/or upgraded any university course(s).

If successful, you will be admitted to Commerce II (second year). You may be eligible for up to 30 units of transfer credit (maximum).

Transfer Credit

Evaluation for transfer credit eligibility will be completed after McMaster’s Office of the Registrar has received your complete application. Transcript assessment is not done until all application materials, and an assessment fee, have been submitted.
